Although it is still unofficial the buzz around town is the Detroit Shock moving to Tulsa, Okla. The WNBA team is rumored to become coached by Nolan Richardson who is involved with a group called Tulsa Pro Hoops LLC, once the team is franchised.The Shock debuted in the league in 1998 and advanced to the Eastern Conference finals this year. In the 2003 WNBA Finals, Detroit once drew 22,076 fans — setting a record for the largest crowd to watch a women’s professional basketball game.
As we wait for the league to put together a statement about the team’s move, The Detroit Shocked will be remembered and missed by the Motor City.
